The Frederick News-Post Runs a Story About Pokerbility

September 26th, 2006 (06:15 pm)

In its short history, Pokerbility has created quite a stir in the Texas Hold’em community.  This odds calculator has taken thousands of novice and average players, and given them an edge that puts them on equal footing with poker masters when playing online.  Until now the buzz has only been in poker circles, but recently Pokerbility attracted the attention of the legitimate media.  On July 25th, 2006 the Frederick News-Post did a feature on Pokerbility in its Frederick Business Week section.

The article talks about the creative spark that inspired the creators of Pokerbility to move forward with their product as well as the success that has been enjoyed by the company since it introduced its odds calculator.  The article goes on to talk about how Pokerbility gives players an undeniable edge when playing Hold’em in cyberspace.  This is the secret behind the success of the company.  If the tool were not working, Pokerbility would not be successful.  It is that simple.

The reviews and articles about Pokerbility from gaming industry publications is impressive enough, but to be such a good product that now the accepted media is getting interested is a testament to how truly effective Pokerbility is at helping folks win money playing Texas Hold’em.

WINNERSPOKERTOOLS.COM INTERVIEWS JEFF BRINKS, VICE PRESIDENT OF POKERBILITY

August 22nd, 2006 (03:25 pm)

Whoever came up with the statement “right from the horse’s mouth” has probably never had their face anywhere near the maw of an equine.  Being one who was raised around horses I will say that this is not a place you want your nose anywhere near.  The sentiment behind the saying though, is that you need to hear something from the original source.  WinnersPokerTools.com did just that when they interview Jeff Brinks, Vice President of Pokerbility.

This in-depth interview with one of the creative minds behind the industries best poker odds calculator covers a number of subjects from how the product was developed and why it is light years ahead of any of its competitors to such silly subjects as is using Pokerbility a legal form of cheating?  The accuracy of the product does give the player an “unfair” edge over other novice and average as well as elevating their game to the level of an expert.

It is fascinating to hear how Pokerbility has used mathematicians, engineers, and professional poker players to develop this product and make it the dominant tool among the odds calculators available to the public.

Those who say winning isn’t everything probably also claim they read “Playboy” just for the articles.  In most cases, unless you list your address as Tibet and have a predisposition toward chanting, chances are you have at least a small spark of competitive drive flowing through your veins.  In the game of poker, winning is measured in dollars and cents.  With that in mind, what would you do if a tool were available that would tip the balance of Hold’em power squarely in your favor?

Pokerbility FAQ

June 26th, 2006 (03:36 pm)

1. What game rooms are supported by Pokerbility?

Pokerbility supports only Texas Hold'em rooms. Click here for the full list.

2. What Operating System can run Pokerbility?

Pokerbility runs on Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

3. Should I use Pokerbility advice always?

Pokerbility is a poker odds calculator. It is meant to give you the odds on the current situation based on the data at hand. Poker is a game of nuance that goes beyond numerical calculations and odds. In other words, this tool is simply a guide. It cannot account for the human factor that is integral to the game itself. For example, it will not tell you when to bluff, or when someone else is bluffing. In other words, don't always do what Pokerbility tells you to do. The best winning formula is to combine you're poker knowledge together with the Pokerbility advise.

4. Pokerbility is not reading my pocket cards and/or the community cards.

This can be caused by one of three options:

  1. The cards configuration setting of the poker client is set to 4 Color Deck. Since Pokerbility currently do not support this configuration setting, Please make sure that the "4 Color Deck" option on the "Options" menu, is unchecked and try again.

  2. There are poker clients' configuration settings that are not yet supported by Pokerbility software. For example, at Poker Stars client, only images' setting is supported, therefore it is recommended to use the default poker client settings in case you encounter problems with the cards reading.

  3. When Pokerbility is attached to a table on the top left of the software screen (inside the orange section) there should be a message "Watching" with the room details.

If the Pokerbility window or any other software window is placed on top of the poker client window on one of the sections that are being watched, Pokerbility will not be able to get the needed information from the poker client and the message that will be shown is "Can't watch: Window is concealed"

In this case the cards will not be shown correctly. In order to avoid this situation, the poker client window should be fully visible.

5. When I open Pokerbility I receive error which says "Failed to load RichTextBox from RichTx32.ocx. Your version of RichTx32.ocx may be outdated…"

Pokerbility is using some components from the operating system while running. One of those components is the RichTx32.ocx.
You probably have an old version of this file which was not updated.
In order to fix this problem, you'll need to set up and register a new version of this file.
The easiest way to do that is to go to Pokerbility Library Files, download and install the setup.
This setup file will backup the current version of RichTx32.ocx installed on your computer and install the new one.

Before installing this setup, please make sure you close all other applications including Pokerbility.

Alternatively (or if you still see the same error), you may download just the RichTx32.ocx from http://www.pokerbility.com/Versioning/Support/RichTx32.ocx and register it yourself using the following steps:
  • Click the following link and save it to your desktop: http://www.pokerbility.com/Versioning/Support/RichTx32.ocx.
  • Backup your current copy of RichTx32.ocx and copy the new file from your desktop to the same file location. This file should be located on "WINNT\system32" for Windows 2000 or on "WINDOWS\system32" for Windows XP.
  • Click on the Windows "Start" button and then click "Run…"
  • According to your Operation System, type the following command to register the file:
    • Windows 2000: regsvr32 \WINNT\system32\RichTx32.ocx
    • Windows XP: regsvr32 \WINDOWS\system32\RichTx32.ocx
  • You should see a message saying "DllRegisterServer … succeeded"
  • If you are getting an error telling you that the file is missing then you are not typing the command in correctly.
  • Please note that there is a SPACE after "regsvr32" command.

6. When I open Pokerbility I receive a DLL or OCX errors.

Pokerbility is using Visual Basic runtime components while running. You probably missing or have an old version of one of this components files. In order to fix this problem, you'll need to set up and register a new version of the file. The easiest way to do that is to go to Pokerbility Library Files, download and install the setup. Before installing this setup, please make sure you close all other applications including Pokerbility. If you still see the same error, you'll need to set up and register the file manually. Please contact support for further instructions.

Behind the technology

June 15th, 2006 (01:35 pm)

Background
Many applications for playing online poker can be found on the net. These applications allow users to play online poker against other users around the globe. Online poker games can be played just for fun using play money or more professionally using real money. The most popular and widespread poker game in the world is the Texas Hold'em poker game. Like in other poker games, it is all about odds, probabilities and the ability to "understand" the other players’ actions. When it comes to playing online poker, since the player is not sitting in front of the other players, the importance of odds and probability calculations abilities is much higher. The Texas Hold'em poker game is very easy to learn and understand but difficult to master.

The Technology
Pokerbility was developed with the distinct objective of providing real-time, professional advice for poker players, based on the patent-pending CombiCalc™ hands odds calculation technology. This advice includes the rank, odds, and probabilities, and is calculated using combinations, permutations, and simulation calculations. All of the above is provided automatically and transparently, with no intervention needed by the user.

Most existing poker hand ranking applications use game simulations, hard coded statistic figures or ranking based on hand history to output the hand rank and odds. This way perhaps is fast at times, but is a less accurate calculation. At the late game stages there is no way to escape the use of game simulations since there are too many possible combinations but at the early game stages, combinations and permutations can be used in order to calculate odds, rank and probabilities in a more accurate way.

Pokerbility has developed this process, combining the above technologies to provide a fast, accurate, and easy-to-use application that allows poker players to improve and master the game of poker.
